Shift Supervisor

Location: Torquay

Casual, Full-time + Part-Time
Salary:
Casual rates or FT $49,500 - $62,000, pro rata
Hours:
38 hours (or part-time equivalent)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Front of House Shift Supervisor to support the Venue Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional customer experiences at Pholklore Torquay. The Shift Supervisor will supervise the front-of-house team, manage customer service, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Venue Manager in managing and coordinating all FOH activities.

  • Supervise and motivate front-of-house staff, including hosts, servers and bartenders.

  • Assist the Venue Manager in training new hires and provide ongoing coaching to ensure high levels of performance and service.

  • Ensure exceptional customer service by greeting customers, resolving issues, and responding to enquiries or complaints promptly.

  • Monitor service quality and assist the Venue Manager to uphold service standards.

  • Oversee daily operations during shifts, including opening and closing procedures, table assignments, and seating arrangements.

  • Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely food preparation and delivery to customers.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.

  • Communicate effectively with management, the wider team, and customers to address concerns and maintain positive relationships.

  • Perform opening and closing duties according to established procedures.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Front of House Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar role in the hospitality industry.

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-oriented approach.

  • Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic accounting principles.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • You may be required to work across multiple locations.
