Experienced Sous Chef
Location: Torquay
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $57,000- $79,000
Hours: 38 hours
Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Pholklore, Torquay. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring efficient and high-quality food production. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with excellent culinary skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering memorable dining experiences.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in managing and coordinating all kitchen activities.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to recipes and food presentation standards.
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
Monitor food inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation.
Conduct regular inspections of food items to maintain high quality and consistency.
Implement food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.
Work with the Head Chef to motivate and lead the kitchen team, fostering a positive work environment.
Provide guidance and training to develop culinary skills and knowledge among team member.
Assist in inventory management and ordering of food supplies.
Help in maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring proper maintenance.
Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and management to address any issues or concerns.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a reputable restaurant or culinary establishment. (Minimum 3+ years.)
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
Leadership abilities with a proactive and hands-on approach to kitchen management.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
You may be required to work across multiple locations.
